Poem Feb 28th 2014

Soundscape
Wind ripples
dancing
through wood
lightly chiming
smiling
I sleep.

Phone
Phone
provides
people
plentiful
possibilities
preparing
planning
playing
publicly
protesting
paying
passing time.

Poem Feb 26th 2014

Performing While Waiting for the Train
Twisting
turning
arching
spinning
gliding
people
stop
watch
take pictures
applaud
when she finished
she gets on train
gone.

Poem Feb 25th 2014

Choices: A Tribute
Speechless landscape
flooded my eyes
I see why
you did not want to leave
Battling
ocean land weather
to survive
eking out enough
to stay alive
deciding to go
build a better life
A hard choice
you found your way
I only know you
through family stories
We never met
but you will never be forgotten.

Poem Feb 24th 2014

Wandering
Wandering
fluttering in wind
breezing
past abandoned houses
settling on stone
gazing
as sun slips away.

Poem Feb 23rd 2014

Halfabet Hermit
A
Bunch bushed bushes
controls
deceptive
entrance
from
great
hordes hoping hermit
investigates
just
keeping
loud
making
noise.
No
Matter
Leaves
Kumquats
Just
Intends
Happily
Going
For
Excursion
Down
Coast
Being
Alone

Poem Feb 22nd 2014

The Cave
This was a place
we explored
lured by tales of
smugglers and treasure
our adventures
brought us together
what we found
fun, laughter and love.

Poem Feb 21st 2014

Living Music
You are music
your notes
overwhelm me
leaving me
lost in you
but happy.

Poem Feb 20th 2014

Look Again
We have patterns
by following them
we have lost touch
with what is
going on around us
this is our blindness
we must open our eyes again
rediscover our surroundings.

Poem Feb 19th 2014

Don't wait until midnight
Don't wait until midnight
It may be too late
if you love her
tell her straight
to her face
Don't dilly-dally
or delay
you might not get
the answer you want
Yes, it is painful
If you do not tell her
she won't know
Speak
Don't stay silent
you'll have only regret
Better to know
than leaving this uncorked love
battering your soul.
Set yourself free
or watch someone else
have a chance to be happy instead
I've lived through that Fred
Being alive yet quite dead
Go to her
speak from your heart
Do it!

Poem Feb 18th 2014

The Cultural Fox
Many guises
forms
I take
am around
day and night
you do not see
unless you have the sight
or I want you to see me
I regale tales
in many lands
have lent the occasional hand
to help or hurt
seduce or flirt
am much more
than what appears
on the page
I am culture too
Don’t forget me
for I am a part of you!

Poem Feb 17th 2014

Airport
At the airport
you can buy
many things
from lingerie
to onion rings.
As people run past
trying to catch their plane
others wait
drinking coffee chatting
to kill some time
until people arrive
some watch
trying to catch someone’s eye
getting a smile
conversations start
numbers exchanged
a happy moment
that brightens
the day.

Poem Feb 16th 2014

The Battle Against ALS*
Every day
I am unable
to do some things
that I could do before.
Spreading
slowly
overwhelming
shutting me down.
I cannot face the day
with a frown.
I must fight on
to the end.
Eventually
will not be able
to move at all.
Now, locked in my body
the mind is free.
I will do all I can
to get people
to understand me.
© BJG (Blair Gaulton) Feb 2014
* This poem is dedicated to my uncle Harold who passed away
fighting ALS.

Philosophy
We make mistakes
they do not define us.
How we react to them does.

Poem Feb 14th 2014

Any Day Can Be Valentine's Day!
Love existed
before Valentine's day
many take the opportunity
buy a card or some presents
to say I love you
in their own special way
Do not limit it to this day!
Do it when it is unexpected ;)

Poem Feb 3rd 2014

This poem was inspired by a writing exercise done today.

Dice
For once I want to be still
not an object
that makes others feel thrilled
or give them a chill
when the unexpected
turns up
I am not a game
nor fate's toy
Enough
These speckled scratches
Do not define me!
